The Young Vic Theatre located near London’s South Bank was built in 1970 with the aim of creating an accessible venue that offered high quality entertainment at low cost. The 420-seat theatre primarily performs classic plays in innovative productions starring many of the country’s leading actors including Dame Judi Dench and Helen Mirren. Due to the failure of its existing roof system on account of poor installation with another system, contractors lthaca Roofing were specified to replace the 400m2 roof with a Sika-Trocal roof system utilising a 2mm thick Sika-Trocal S membrane.

Using the Sika-Trocal roof system allowed contractors lthaca Roofing to provide strong and reliable integrity to the roof of this building, which is lightweight and economical and can be done very quickly with the Sika-Trocal disc fix system. Furthermore it will last, with a third party certification from the British Board of Agrément (BBA) for 35 years durability to prove it. The use of Sika-Trocal Type S membrane proved to be critical as work needed to be carried out whilst the theatre was in operation in one of London’s busiest areas, so the shortest period of disruption was crucial.
